Pressbox (Press Release) - Leica Q-P Announced - 2019 New Cameras Launch
What trends can we expect in the digital camera world in 2019?
Melbourne, Australia 11/9/18 –Leica has officially announced its 24 Megapixel Q-P digital camera launch for pre-order on the 11/7. It is actually technically similat to the original “Q” version. With a 24MP CMOS sensor and a fixed, 28mm f/1.7 Summilux ASPH lens, the new Q-P model features a magnificent black paint finish that makes it less obvious when out shooting on the street. Leica has also changed its branding from a discreet red dot logo across their product range to an engraved and white painted, very detailed “Leica” on the camera’s top plate. Every camera is also sold with a subtlety refined brownish leather strap and two additional USB rechargeable batteries.
The newly unveiled model has been created for a better focus on stealth, technicality and with an attractive passe-partout design. Even though, the camera main specs are similar to previous models, its superior quality and focus on technical excellence will impress most in the industry.
Eddy Khayat, CEO from Liquid Photography have qualified the Leica Q-P set as “a pricey but subtle full-frame street camera, that will content professionals in their research for the perfect city shots”.
Leica’s biggest challenge and trouble point about the QP launch is definitely its pricing. Available at a steady $4,995 (USD), which is more than its previous Leica Q model ($4,250 USD at launch in 2015), it is considered as a middle range camera. It is actually quite a lot to pay if we consider the Q-P as a tweaked version of an almost 3-year-old camera. There are some more interesting cameras available on the market price-wise which have similar specs and are fairly recent. Fujifilm, Nikon and Hasslebad are too be considered by their medium format cameras range. Leica’s QP simplicity of design and the camera technical abilities are however unpreceded and very attractive even if Fujifilm are offering higher resolution in the same camera range.
The German made Leica Q-P will established itself as a full-frame, compact camera for all occasions and types of photography, and will most likely be a reference camera model to add in the crowded photography industry.
Qualified as “the latest bespoke model” by TechRadar, it is indeed all about discretion as leica makes a “true statement of understatement”, it is been rated by most professionals the maximum note as A superb full-frame compact camera for those who like traditional controls and modern features like an electronic viewfinder.
