Added: (Sat Jan 08 2005)

New York, NY – ASCAP, the leading performance rights organization for songwriters, has added Houston, TX modern rock act Southern Backtones to the list of talented songwriters featured in their Audio Portrait series.

The Southern Backtones are an exciting blend of raw brit-influenced rock with roots planted firmly in Texas. Supporting a new album, a continually growing fan base and mounting critical praise, the band will embark on a hard-core performance rotation for 2005.

The ASCAP audio portrait is a unique format created by BEHINDtheBEAT.com, which uses state of the art technology and production techniques to craft profiles of artists in the context of their newly released material. Listeners are able to hear the artist discuss the underlying foundation behind the songs and music.

The addition of ASCAP’s Audio Portrait is a compliment to the Southern Backtones’ promotional efforts in supporting their latest release. Dan Workman, most noted for his work with Beyonce, Destiny’s Child and ZZ Top, produced the self-titled album.

Attracting attention from radio, print and online media, the Southern Backtones have remained in the Modern Rock Top Ten on garageband.com for months. With performance dates through February, retail placement and promotional efforts underway, Southern Backtones is heating up to be the favorite indie modern rock release for 2005.

Upcoming performance dates include Houston, Dallas, Austin and Galveston, TX. For more information check out www.southernbacktones.com or their Audio Portrait at www.ascap.com/audioportraits/southernbacktones.html
