Ethical Shopping – A Crafty Alternative
Individual Interior Accessories And Affordable Art
All ‘Made In The UK’ By The Finest Contemporary Artists And Craftsmen
Regularly listed as the best of their kind by the national media, Craft In Focus is staging four events this autumn providing an opportunity to buy unique products of a quality that is rarely seen amongst the mass produced items on the high street. Events are being held in Crowthorne, Berkshire (24-26 October), Sevenoaks, Kent (31 October – 2 November), Welwyn, Hertfordshire (15-16 November) and Richmond, London (5-7 December). Visitors will be able to purchase direct from some of the finest designer makers in the UK today and may even commission a special piece.
These contemporary craft events are flourishing with the current trend for individually produced products and with more people becoming aware of the impact on our planet of transporting products thousands of miles across the world to stock the high street shelves. Finally the public are looking at the provenance of products they are buying and how they are produced in an effort to ‘do their bit’ towards a greener and more ethical lifestyle. Many people are unaware of where to purchase British made alternatives at an affordable price but Craft In Focus events offer a true solution to ethical shopping as they bring together the very best professional designers, artists and craftsmen in the UK. The events will appeal to anyone searching for unique products for their home. Products available to purchase include glass panels, lights, clocks and functional pieces, contemporary furniture, two-dimensional fine and photographic art and batik pictures, cushions, sculpture, stunning architectural stained glass, windows and mirrors, ceramics, contemporary wrought iron products and much more. Visitors are often surprised to see that the cost of these higher quality hand crafted items is still comparable to the mass produced goods in the high street. This is made possible not just by removing the cost of transporting goods from the other side of the world, but also by removing the middlemen and the high cost needed to advertise their products.
Visitors feel better knowing that they are supporting a professional craftsman or artist who is passionate about their work and the environment and that their purchases are unique! As well as knowing that they are purchasing something produced in the UK, and much of the work locally to each event, visitors will also be pleased to know that, as every exhibitor is a small business, there is very little wastage in their workshops and many use reclaimed materials to produce their work.
All of the exhibitors at Craft In Focus events have designed and made the work that they display, and have been selected for their individuality and innovation in contemporary design, as well as outstanding technical ability. Because of this, Craft in Focus has earned an enviable reputation for selecting only the very best designers, artists and craftsmen.
The events offer a relaxed atmosphere, providing an opportunity to see and purchase truly original items direct from the makers whilst discovering how the work is created and what provides the makers with their inspiration.
Rarely is such a wealth of top quality work seen together at a single event.
