Ilkeston Town appeal for fans to help save the club

Added: (Thu Sep 02 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Conference North side Ilkeston Town are appealing for football fans to help to save the club from extinction by attending their game on Saturday against Eastwood Town.

Ilkeston are facing a court date on September 8th that may well see the club wound up. However the club are hoping a large crowd on Saturday against local rivals Eastwood will give them a much needed cash influx and may give them a chance of survival.

With England playing on Friday and no Premier League or Championship games on the Saturday, the 4th of September has been dubbed "Non-League Day" with thousands of football fans with no game to watch expected to take in their local non-league club. Ilkeston have latched on to this and are offering reduced entry prices to any Nottingham Forest, Derby County or Notts County season ticket holder or anyone who has a matchday ticket stub from any August game featuring the aforementioned 3 clubs.

A spokesman for the Ilkeston Town Supporters Trust hopes the game will attract a large crowd "This is do or die for the club. This may be the last game in the clubs' history. We really, really need people to come to the game and help us out. Any fans that do attend will be greatly appreciated and given a very warm welcome and may play their part in saving our football club"
