Pegasus Client Services is a local sales and marketing company and was intrigued to hear more about this evaluation. Colchester Zoo recently played host to a team from the Royal Veterinary College who are studying how rhinos, one of the heaviest land mammals, carry their weight on such small feet.

As the keepers of the zoo have such a good relationship with the resident rhinos they were able to assist the team by training the rhinos to walk across a hi-tech track that is packed full of sensors which measured the pressure and forces. This helped the team to gather the information they needed to help support their evaluation.Pegasus Client Services understands the importance of evaluations like this, with the managing director saying, ‘this project could inspire us to be able to build man made movable devices to handle heavy loads.
The team were not only interested to find out how rhinos carried their weight but were also interested in comparing how elephants distribute their weight as their preliminary results showed that their was a difference. This may be due to the fact that their feet are quite different in regard to the amount of toes they have.

Many may not understand the amount of time and effort that is put into evaluations like this, but understanding nature is what has influences many technological advances today.
