“Escape & Indulge in Dance”

Well its 2012 and that pressure of sticking to those New Year resolutions is here once again. So I’m being asked by so many of you to share my top tips on how to miraculously remove those kilos and get that body back to where it was once.
Now, to most of you if I said let’s ‘Escape & Indulge’ to lose those kilos and get fit, you would probably feel immediate guilt, as well as it sounding as though I don’t have a clue what I am talking about. Well read on - you might be surprised.
So here is your fitness plan of action for 2012 and yes you’ve all guessed it, it’s through the huge and proven benefits of Dance.
If you haven’t already you are going to take those first tentative steps and escape into a dance studio somewhere near you (hopefully the Karen Hardy dance studios in London…). You are then going to indulge yourself in a room full of empowering, stimulating, pulsating and dare I go as far as saying…gyrating sounds of great musical rhythms!
Once the music is sounding and you are moving you will experience a sudden enlightening of FREEDOM. “I can do it, I’m dancing” you will hear yourself say but watch out you are about to go so appallingly wrong within three seconds of that euphoric moment. And at the switch of a light here come the excuses…“Oh well, I can’t dance, I knew I couldn’t do it, I’ve got two left feet anyway and I can’t commit to a regular lesson on Tuesdays because of Sophie’s music lesson….” Oh dear dear me, are you listening to yourself? You know yourself just how much you want to be able to dance, to show your friends or family that you have rhythm and that you have that one gift of life that so many millions crave for. Well you have just chosen to join the millions of people with two left feet!!!!
At the end of the day my wellbeing relies solely on a state of achieving a positive mind in the very first place and understanding a happy and positive mind offers a happy body.
So let’s take a look at that Zumba class that has just opened up down the road for you to escape to. Yes that Zumba message is everywhere and you know you want to escape and do it but the incredible excuses that just seem to keep creeping in….
Now, I could take you through the wellbeing advantages of Ballroom dancing but I think that has proven itself time and time again on your TV, every Saturday night during the Strictly Come Dancing season. You’ve also probably created the most amazing excuses also for not having called to book those Ballroom Dance lessons that you want so much and they are probably a variation on “I don’t have a partner” and the second has to be “I’ve got two left feet!” Are you listening to yourself? So strong is your mind you have actually convinced yourself that you have two left feet so ask yourself this, when you next go to buy your pair of La Boutines are you going to ask for two left shoes!!!
Taking a simple dance style Zumba class will in your first class have you; inspired by some amazing music, be fulfilling that you have learnt some dance steps, be rewarding that you’ve had an hour of fun, be stimulating that all your troubles were left outside for that one hour and you can now take the world on once again and finally be reassuring that when you looked down you didn’t actually have two left feet.
