'VIEW' SPENCER JOHN DERRY: Solo Art Show May 2010

A new art show called 'VIEW' by professional artist Spencer John Derry will be exhibited at Heswall Library for 12 days in May. 'VIEW' was painted mostly in February-March 2010, barring two pieces from 2007. The exhibition shows scenes of Chester, Cheshire, North Wales and Crosby beach Merseyside. All artworks were painted on canvas with black and white acrylic paint.
Derry has spent most of his life in Chester and was nominated for the Randolph Caldecott Society Award in 1991 while studying at Blacon Art College. He went on to to study film at The Hull School of Art in 1993 where gained his Bachelor of Arts.
Spencer has had numerous exhibitions notably Blacksheep Gallery at Gladstone Estate and Liverpool Academy of Arts. His poetry has been published by a Manchester based magazine 'The Ugly Tree' in 2007 which is now housed at The South Bank Centre poetry library in London.
At present the artist is working on outsider, visionary, dark art, surrealism imagery that far surpasses his earlier work.
