Beware of the fake anti spyware program named Desktop Security 2010. It mimics a legitimate looking program but is actually fake and won't remove spyware or viruses from your computer.
Olathe, Kansas - Has your computer suddenly started showing windows filled with security warnings and an urgent need to buy a anti spyware program named Desktop Security 2010? "Beware of this fake anti spyware program. It will try and get you to purchase a license key. This is actually a scam, do not purchase it" says Jimmy Walker from freeremovalofspyware.org.
Desktop Security 2010 does a very good job of mimicking a legitimate anti spyware program. But be warned that this is not a real program, only a well designed scam. It even has it's own fancy interface designed in tricking you to believe its a legitimate program. This new threat is yet another addition to the ever growing family of high tech spyware infections.
"You computer can become infected whenever you are browsing online unprotected" says Jimmy. "Perhaps you browsed an unsafe website, or downloaded a video codec to watch movies online. Or it may have come from a web 2.o site like facebook. It's not really important how you became infected, but rather how you will remove the dangerous spyware."
Once this program installs itself onto your computer, it will secure it's position. It will embed itself into your registry, and also your hard drive. “Once there it will constantly bombard you with pop-ups and fake security alerts designed to scare you into purchasing. Do not buy this fake spyware program, it is a scam” says Jimmy.
Your money is not the only thing the makers of this spyware are after. Some infections can contain key-loggers which are used to record sensitive data like passwords, credit card and bank information, and maybe even social security numbers. The longer this infection remains on your computer, the greater the chance of identity theft.
"Once installed, there are only a couple of ways to remove Desktop Security 2010. You can either use a legitimate spyware removal program like Spyware Doctor, reformat your hard drive, or you can do it manually" says Jimmy.
