The book is dedicated to all those who share a passion for local, seasonal produce. It contains fascinating chapters on the history of asparagus, its cultivation, the folklore surrounding this special vegetable as well as quotes, a section on asparagus� properties and selected recipes, both submitted from British restaurants and from around the world.
A Passion for Asparagus brings together in one place all the fascinating stories from growers and restaurateurs, is a wealth of interesting anecdotes and is aimed both at the asparagus aficionado and those who have been intimated about preparing and cooking this delicious vegetable.
The book, priced �7.99, will be available from the author�s web site (www.eveshamasparagus.co.uk) as well as local farm shops, hotels, pubs and tourism outlets. It will also be available at the asparagus festival at a special price.
A Passion for Asparagus is an independently produced book (100 pages). The author, Chris Sheehan, lives in Evesham and is a keen cook, enjoying shopping in the local markets and farm shops.
