Women drivers show their skills for charity

Female motorists in Swindon have been demonstrating their driving skills to raise money for charity.
Women's car insurance premiums are often lower because statistics show they are more careful drivers and that attention to detail was evident at RAF Lyneham at the Prospect Hospice Ladies Driving Challenge on Saturday.
More than 100 women drivers put their skills to the test by manoeuvring articulated lorries, double-decker buses and tractors around the air strip, reports the Swindon Advertiser.
RAF squadron leader Rob Gratton was impressed by the women's efforts.
"It has gone really well and there has been a lot of support from all the women who have taken part and are raising money for the hospice," he told the newspaper.
The skills that lead to women's car insurance often being available at cheaper rates have also been on show in Australia recently, where the mining manager of the Cadia Hill Gold Mine has said he prefers female drivers for the site's 400-tonne trucks because they are "softer on the equipment".
Kwik-Fit Car Insurance was named the UK's cheapest provider of women's car insurance by research conducted last year.
