Research from the UK's leading discount code and voucher site has revealed that most Brits see the Google logo once every 9 minutes, with a further 47% admitting that Google is their homepage or the first page that they access once online.
Research by the UK's leading discount code and voucher site has revealed that most Brits see the Google logo once every 7 minutes with a further 47% admitting that it is either their homepage or the first page that they log onto once online.
The study was commissioned by http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk to see which well known logos had the greatest influence amongst consumers. 1,654 were polled and asked the question "which logo do you see the most during an average day?" 34% of respondents said that the Google logo was the most prominent; this was followed by Microsoft with 15% and Facebook with 11% saying so.
When all respondents were asked the question "how often do you see each of the following logos on a daily basis?" 51% said that they saw the Google logo most, with the majority of participants estimating that they saw it more than 50 times every working day - or once every 9 minutes.
Just fewer than half, 47%, of the respondents said that Google was either their homepage or the first page that they logged onto.
53% of those polled by MyVoucherCodes admitted that they used Google as a spelling tool to check words they were uncertain about, whilst just under a quarter of respondents said that they had installed a searchbar into their browser. The majority, 52%, of people said they searched for something using Google between 10 and 20 times every day.
MyVoucherCodes revealed that the top ten most viewed logos were:
1. Google - 34%
2. Microsoft - 15%
3. Facebook - 11%
4. Apple - 9%
5. Coca Cola - 8%
6. BBC - 7%
7. Sony -5%
8. Sky - 4%
9. Twitter - 3%
10. Blackberry -2%
Mark Pearson, chairman of http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk said;
"We have so many household names and brands on our site that we thought it would be a brilliant idea to look into which were the most influential for consumers. We were not surprised to see that Google is the most recognised logo amongst Brits as it has become such an institution - with many websites reliant on Google ads, as well as the near-monopoly it seems Google enjoys with searches."
He continued;
"We were a little surprised however by just how many times the logo was seen on any given day, the fact that most Brits said that saw the Google logo every 9 minutes during the average work day is pretty impressive. With Facebook and Twitter also making the top ten list it is clear that social media is just as important now as it has ever been."
