Delphian School Students Raise Money For Tsunami Victims

When students at The Delphian School in Sheridan Oregon learned there was a national campaign for independent schools to raise money to aid tsunami victims, they didn’t hesitate to jump right in. They received word that independent K-12 schools wanted to raise one million dollars for tsunami aid by having each school raise at least one thousand dollars. The Delphian School students rallied behind the campaign and raised well over $1000 in a matter of days.
The Delphian School student council spearheaded the project. Upon finding out about the national campaign, the student council quickly researched the disaster and prepared a slide presentation. The next day they got the whole school’s attention and support after showing the presentation. They were quickly able to raise over $1000 from both the faculty and the student body. One student council member said, “We were grateful for the chance to raise money and contribute to the victims and their families.”
The money was sent directly to the Red Cross as part of this campaign, and plans are underway to do additional fund raising for other worthy causes.
The Delphian School is an independent, co-educational day and boarding school offering college preparatory, English-as-a-Second-Language and summer programs for elementary through high school students. The Delphian School is licensed to use Applied Scholastics educational services.
