Great ways to get your clothes dry
Added: (Tue Aug 26 2008)
Electric dryers are frequently used for drying clothes, especially by apartment dwellers who have no access to a clothesline in the backyard. But a clothes dryer is one of the least energy efficient machines around. If you are looking to save some money on your daily costs, why not get creative about drying your clothes? If your apartment has a balcony, buy a clothes airer and stand it out in the fresh air and sunshine to dry your clothes. You may be able to install a retractable clothesline out there too. But check with the relevant authorities first.
The bathroom or laundry is a good place to hang out your wet clothes. Even hanging them overnight will get them half-dry. Then finish them off in the dryer save half the cost. Use one of those circular drying racks to hang from the shower rail. They are great for smaller items such as socks and underwear.
Larger drying racks with wheels can be purchased for sheets and towels. Leave them in front of a sunny window while you go off to work and they'll be dry by the time you get home. Meanwhile you'll be surprised at how many shirts and t-shirts will fit in odd places if placed on a clothes hanger first. Over the back of a chair, from the handle of the deep freeze or from a piece of string tied between chairs or to cupboard handles are several ideas.
If you live in a colder climate then it can be hard to get clothing dry. One cheap solution is to place clothes in front of a reverse cycle air conditioners heating air path.
