The standard of the essays, dissertations, theses, and other written works in UK universities has long been very impressive. These days, English compositions are still of a high calibre, with many students submitting papers that are grammatically correct, as well as factually accurate, and engrossing to their readers. Assessors, tutors and examiners have stringent requirements, which are successfully met by many diligent students.
Even with the increasingly prevalence of slang and short length text used in mobile phone and facebook messages, the level of grammar in the top UK universities is as sound as ever, with top English language students continually producing first class standard compositions.
Online researcher Mari Mallin, remarks that "the quality of
essay writing in the UK is, in many ways, a benchmark for colleges around the world". In fact, many of the world's most prestigious universities are located in the UK, including Oxford university and Eton college.
Most people find writing essays to be rather difficult, but with the kind of training and tuition available in the United Kingdom, there are many students graduating from university every year with excellent English writing skills, and top qualifications. Many employers demand excellent standards with regard to research, writing, reading, and pronuniciation, so those with English language degrees and even PhD's can be at an advantage. UK college graduates are also in demand in other Countries, including the United States, where their unique skill sets often come in useful. "Many British graduates are great assets to foreign organizations, even as many foreign workers are to UK based organizations", remarks Mari Mallin.
Essays are often composed not just at university, but also in the workplace, so most students find that the effort that they have had to put into developing their research, writing and typing skills in college has been well worth it.
