Yahoo! is officially launching the first of a series of mobile episodes with a user determined outcome. The series entitled ‘Will Harry Date Sally?’ is based around two central characters Harry and Sally, and how their prospects of finding love together might be enhanced by the most ubiquitous of modern technologies -the mobile phone.
The first episode will with viewer’s consent be beamed to consumers on their mobiles. It ends in a cliff hanger and a prompt for the viewer to choose what they think Harry should do next. (The first episode can be viewed online at http://www.willharrydatesally.com). They can submit their preference for next steps via SMS, and this will trigger the download of an incomplete episode 2 to their mobile. Viewers are encouraged to participate further by offering up their talent for scripting or acting in a future episode, and consumers can be as collaborative in producing subsequent episodes as they choose.
The mobile series introduces viewers to the Yahoo! ‘onesearch’ product in a new and innovative way – and brings them into contact with the product on their mobile phones, just one click away from their phone’s mobile internet access and a search revolution!
