Salem Farmers’ Market Celebrates “MA Farmers’ Market Week” with Appearances by State & Local Officials, TV Diner’s Co-Host, Jennifer Johnson and Chef Demonstration by Chef Antonio Bettencourt of 62 Restaurant & Winebar!

On August 26th, 2010, Salem Farmers’ Market is celebrating Massachusetts Farmers’ Market week with a special presentation. Starting shortly after the opening of the market, there will be a cooking demonstration by Executive Chef/Owner Antonio Bettencourt of 62 Restaurant & Winebar, music by cellist Simon Linn-Gerstein & a presentation and remarks by Jennifer Johnston, Co-Host & Executive Producer of NECN’s TV Diner, Scott Soares, Commissioner of MA Dept. of Agricultural Resources, Julia Kehoe Commissioner of MA Department of Transitional Assistance, Salem, MA Mayor, Kimberley Driscoll and Jennifer Bell, Salem Main Streets, Gus Sousa Farmers Market Manager. “The local movement and the ability for our farmer’s markets to grow and thrive is something that both TV Diner and I feel extremely close to,” said Jenny Johnson.

Guest at the demo and presentation can look forward to not only a great market day, but the opportunity to meet their state and local officials as well as one of Greater-Boston’s best chefs and Jennifer Johnson from TV Diner.

The attendance of Julia E. Kehoe, Commissioner, MA Dept. of Transitional Assistance, officially recognizes the market for the implementation of the SNAP Program. The market is now a participant in the SNAP program and accepts the EBT card at the market.

The Salem Farmers’ Market:

The Salem Farmers’ Market is every Thursday through October 21st from 3 – 7 p.m. in Derby Square on Front Street. Farms at the market include: Clark Farm, First Light Farm, Gibney Gardens, the popular Salem egg farmer Maitland Mountain Farm, Long Hill Orchard, Simone Farms, Wally's Vegetables, Flats Mentor Farm, Cider Hill Farm, and West River Creamery. Non-farm vendors include: Rowand Seafood, Rowell Fishing Company (the Danvers lobsterman), Ellies Salad Dressing, Rawberts Organic, Coven, When Pig’s Fly and Salem Soapworks as well as numerous rotating art vendors.
