5,000 ways local businesses can use GPS to drive sales

Added: (Tue Aug 24 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - 5,000 local businesses across the UK are being invited to pre-register, free of charge, for a site specialising in local discounts and the sister mobile application that promises to deliver them higher footfall using proven discount methods.

The UK’s leading discount voucher code website has launched a local business-specific discount website, www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk/local, as well as a mobile location based service that promises offline businesses higher footfall through targeted discounts and promotions.

MyVoucherCodes Local is a website that gives local businesses the opportunity to deliver customer-focused discounts. The company hopes that it will prevent the gap from widening between local businesses and larger chains, by providing an online and mobile marketing channel to level the playing field.

Local businesses are being asked to list themselves on the site, in a move that could automatically increase their visibility to local customers that may have otherwise spent their money in better-known stores.

The sister application, coming soon, is to be a downloadable service for the Apple iPhone. The service will utilise GPS to give potential customers an overview of the local businesses near to them, and the discounts they are offering.

http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk is the UK’s leading discount voucher codes website. The site saved consumers £52m in 2009 alone, but most importantly for business owners, drove more than £480m worth of sales for thousands of partners last year.

MyVoucherCodes.co.uk Local is offering 100% free signup for the first 5,000 offline businesses across the UK to pre-register for the service. All interested business owners need to do in order to appear in online and mobile GPS searches is list their business here http://www.MyVoucherCodes.co.uk/local
All registered businesses have the ability to simply agree discounts for local customers to find.

The aim of the service is to replicate the success of online discount vouchers – more than 11m people use MyVoucherCodes.co.uk every single month to find money off purchases, and the founder of the service has no doubt that the mobile application and Local website will provide consumers with a whole new way to save money – in a way that help protect the interests of the High Street and local business.

Mark Pearson, managing director of MyVoucherCodes Local, had the following to say,
“Everything points to the fact that High Street sales are slowing down, and I firmly believe that this could be prevented if these businesses took advantage of tried and tested methods online companies have used to advance their market positions.

“Since 2006, MyVoucherCodes has become synonymous with online discounts. Now, with MyVoucherCodes Local, we have the opportunity to aid local businesses, many of whom may not be using technology to drive business.

“Our ability to deliver sales will be the driving force behind this service, and I see absolutely no reason why, through our new technology, we cannot provide millions of pounds worth of sales for local businesses in exactly the same way as we have for online ones.”

He continued,

“Of course, the service will only work if local businesses are willing to step out from the behind the shadows and attempt something unprecedented. In a bid to prevent the gap between local business and chain stores widening, we’re allowing the first 5,000 businesses to list themselves on MyVoucherCodes Local for absolutely nothing. This way, any money they make on top is pure profit – it’s an absolute no-brainer.”
