Added: (Tue Aug 24 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Community Development will be launching the second edition of the “Ramadan Forum for Quran Calligraphy” from Ramadan 25th to 27th (September 4th to 6th)
Three of the best calligraphers from across the Arab and Islamic will participate in the forum, where they will each write an entire copy of the Holy Quran, which they will finish on Lailat Al Qadr.
The inaugural edition of the Forum, which was held under the patronage of the Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, Mr. Abdul Rahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, proved to be a great success. The Ministry invites all fans of fine Arabic calligraphy who are interested in seeing how the verses of the Holy Quran are written, to come and watch the calligraphers during the three-day forum.
The Ministry has set some standards for the project which includes specifications on the type of calligraphy and grade of paper to be used. Special inks have been selected in order to conserve the works for as long as possible. The Ministry will preserve these versions of the Holy Quran at a special gallery. Further details of the competition will be announced by the Ministry next week.
