Pressbox (Press Release) -
The world’s top defence survivability experts and military commanders are meeting in Berlin in October for the largest conference of its kind with top representatives from more than 50 countries attending including Australia, France, UK, Netherlands, Germany, UAE, Turkey, Switzerland, Brazil, USA, Saudi Arabia and India.
The Platform Survivability conference and exhibition focuses on Vehicle, Soldier, Aircraft and Ship Survivability separately, although there is a lot of synergy between the different fields.
According to Platform Survivability programme director, Rob Kerby: “Armed forced do everything they can to maximise the survivability of their personnel and equipment. For example in Iraq and Afghanistan, roadside bombs are a continuous threat to vehicles as well as foot patrols and there is also a great need to protect helicopters from attack. With regards to ships, modern piracy has started to become a real risk to ships in the open seas. To increase survivability, operational commanders have to use effective and innovative materials to develop effective equipment and training to enhance manoeuvrability and effective countermeasures. Especially in today’s conflicts, the threat that has to be countered is diversifying continuously.”
Top invited industry and military experts that will appear at Platform Survivability include:
• Dr Marilyn Freeman, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research & Technology Chief Scientist, OASA (ALT), USA
