Teeth Whitening Techniques

Added: (Wed Jun 24 2009)

Pressbox (Press Release) - There are several ways to make the teeth look beautifully and evenly white. Some of these ways require the patient to see a dentist while others just simply force him/her to stick to routine and discipline. Either way, teeth whitening techniques require a lot of work, time and effort – a reasonable price for the perfect set of pearly whites.

IN-OFFICE WHITENING

For convenience and quicker results, one can always choose to seek the aid of a professional – a dentist. Contrary to what most people think, dentists do not just engage in tooth extractions or root canals. They are also trained and qualified to perform oral cosmetic procedures such as in-office teeth whitening. california dentists in particular are well known for their skills in such fields.

In-office california teeth whitening procedures require the use of bleaching gels and laser light. In this procedure, the teeth are carefully isolated from the lips and gums before a bleaching gel is applied. Afterwards, laser is used to speed up and amplify the tooth whitening effect of the gel.

AT-HOME TOOTH WHITENING

For those who do not have time to visit the dentist, tooth whitening can be done at home. Bleaching gels can be bought over the counter and there are several of them to choose from. As far as convenience is concerned, one can try out any of these available gels and select which product works best for them. Since laser is only used in the office to accelerate the whitening process, one can opt to not use laser light at home. You just have to wait a little longer for the results instead. The only drawback to this particular alternative is that it the dentist does not get to monitor if whitening is done evenly or properly.

However, should one refuse to use bleaching gels, there are also traditional home practices that one can choose from to whiten teeth. Brushing regularly is one of these. In fact, this technique is probably the easiest method of all but its effectiveness is greatly limited. In general, brushing is, at most, a preventive technique rather than a whitening one.
Another way to keep the teeth white is to stay away from nicotine and other teeth-staining material. There are some people who are born with naturally white teeth so they need not see a california dentist in order to enhance their teeth’s color or appearance. For most of us, however, we don’t have the same luxury.
