General Hamid Gul Warns of Impending World War

Added: (Thu Aug 19 2010)

Pressbox (Press Release) - In the only uncensored interview I’ve heard him give since 2008, General Hamid Gul, the retired head of the Pakistan Intelligence Agency ISI, spoke on the GCN Network on Sunday and warned of an impending World War Three.

Last week it was Fidel Castro (though the mainstream media glossed over his warning, choosing to focus instead on his illness and the soap opera bickering between him and his brother). This week General Hamid Gul, a 74 year old man whose clout in the Middle East has definitely seen better days, was openly accused by the New York Times of orchestrating Taliban attacks against US troops in Afghanistan.

What’s interesting about the interview is the charismatic Gul’s candid and open commentary. He described the accusations against him as “nonsense” and described American citizens as “so innocent and gullible it’s almost criminal” - not a bad evaluation. He warned that the Americans are being drawn into an Israeli conflict with Iran that could escalate beyond US control very quickly resulting in war on an unprecedented scale.

His revelations about private contractors in Afghanistan and Pakistan were, if true, horrifying. Private contractors, otherwise known as mercenary soldiers, otherwise known as ex-special forces killing people for large amounts of money, otherwise known as Black Water, have been provoking the Afghan honour system (whereby an eye-for-an-eye is literally more important than religious faith) slaughtering men, women and children in an effort to swell the ranks of the Taliban and keep the war rolling. Their bloodlust is fuelled purely by financial desires. A ‘private contractor’ can apparently make anything between $10,000 to $500,000 per mission, depending on the risk factor and employer.

This comes hot on the tail of outrageous rumours that remote CIA controlled drones are now operating in Afghanistan, piloted by ‘flyers’ hidden away in desert trailers in the depths of the Nevada desert. These flyers, operating outside normal military jurisdiction, have an open license to eliminate anyone they see carrying a weapon. As almost every Afgan national carries a weapon this basically means arbitrary civilian assassination.

Back to the subject in hand, General Gul said that America is risking permanently damaging relations with Afganistan and Pakistan by supporting mercenary and CIA led atrocities in the region. Moreover, he denied Iran were staging terrorist attacks in Pakistan in an effort to destabilise the country and said the Iran/Pakistan border is extremely peaceful. Pakistan, he said, has always had a good relationship with Iran, just as it has always had a good friendly relationship with America. Hardly the picture being painted in the west.
