INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE CLOSES NATIONAL COMMITTEE IN TANZANIA

The International Chamber of Commerce, the voice of world business, has closed down its National Committee in Tanzania.

Founded in 1999, the ICC has an overriding aim: to serve world business by promoting trade and investment, open markets for goods and services, and the free flow of capital. The organisations National Committees shape the organization's policies alerting their governments to international business concerns.

The ICC has direct access to national governments all over the world through its national committees providing business input to the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. The organization's Paris-based international secretariat feeds business views into intergovernmental organizations on issues that directly affect business operations.

Together with the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), ICC helps some of the world's poorest countries to attract foreign direct investment and covers a broad spectrum of activities including fighting corruption and combating commercial crime.

National Committees represent the ICC in their respective countries to insure the ICC takes account of their national business concerns in its policy recommendations to governments and international organizations.

The Secretary General of Tanzania’s National Committee was Agapitus L. Nguma and it was Chaired by Reginald Mengi.
