New Haven-based law firm Stratton Faxon’s 2009 holiday party proved to be a tremendously successful event.
Stratton Faxon’s annual holiday party in New Haven was held December 17, 2009, at Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant. Proving to be a tremendously successful event, it was attended not only by the firm’s founding partners Mike Stratton and Joel Faxon, but by 300+ attorneys and community folks on the list of guests who enjoyed live music, carriage and horse rides, fresh rolled cigars, and much more. Perhaps most significantly, 85 different charities benefitted from last month’s event – as the donor rolls gained new names and new dollars as the year drew to a close.
The maximizing of folks’ holiday donation dollars was made possible by this event, as was Stratton Faxon’s 2009 “You Choose, We Match” Campaign in which the New Haven –based law firm matched the individual donations of each guest – up to $200 per person – to any 501c(3) charity of his/her choice. Combined with Stratton Faxon’s December 5, 2009 party in Bridgeport, Connecticut, the firm raised over $25,000 for a spectrum of charities ranging from LEAP, Connecticut Food Bank, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, and New Haven Legal Assistance – just to name a few of those chosen by attendees. “We will not only provide a grand total of $50,000, but we will also donate additional dollars to Leadership, Education, and Athletics in Partnership (LEAP),” explained partner Mike Stratton. LEAP is an after-school program with an emphasis on mentorship in New Haven that has traditionally been the benefactor of Stratton Faxon’s holiday parties in recent years.
Stratton expounded on the purpose of giving. “It was important to help out all these charities this time of year because, although we are already involved with some of the state’s finest charities, we knew there are others close to our guests’ hearts to which we had not donated. We thought this would be a great way to do it. It’s really a win-win.” Stratton added a bit more about LEAP. “LEAP is an organization that I’ve always looked up to. Civil justice can’t happen in a culture where children lack education, love, and opportunity. LEAP provides future generations with those key ingredients.”
