Text Numbers in Advertisements Drive Interaction

Added: (Thu Aug 02 2001)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Marketers are including mobile numbers in print ads that enable companies to instantly interact with consumers via text messages.

Avoca Communications, a leading provider of text messaging services for radio stations in the UK, provide the technology to enable two-way text interaction. With their technology companies have the ability to advertise nationally using one mobile number.

Text numbers are being included in advertisements to capture consumers the moment they see a product or service that interests them. With over 70% of the UK population owning a mobile phone this looks to be the popular way to market to consumers. As mobile users text the moment they see an advertisement, companies are able to gain instant feedback on a campaigns success.

Text messaging enables a one to one relationship to develop between the mobile user and the advertiser. A basic scenario involves a mobile text number being included in a billboard advertisement. Interested consumers text the number and receive an instant reply message which can include a discount voucher, further information or details of a special offer.

Using Avoca’s technology a national campaign can be developed with a local focus. Interested mobile users send a text containing their postcode to the advertised number. The text reply can then be tailored to include details relating to that particular area.

“We work with marketing agencies and provide the technology to develop interactive text campaigns. Any form of advertising can incorporate a text number and reply messages are becoming very creative including discount coupons, logos and text games,” states Paul Targett, Managing Director of Avoca Communications.
