I. Rahim Harris aka Shock da world a rapper from New England has published his first magazine called "Street Smarts." The magazine focus on subjects that are not in your everyday paper. The article come from questions asked often by the urban youth. " I just wanted to make a magazine about the hood that doesn't involve only hip hop." says Shock. " Peolple think the hip hop community means all black people." Rappers are rapping about things that everyday people don't have or do.". " Hip hop is just one of products of the ghetto but it doesn't represent everyone."
Shock hopes to use this magazine to bridge the cultural gaps between communities and different ethnic backgrounds. With articles like "who has the highest murder rate?" And " 5 tips for a ladie to keep her thug satisfied." Street Smarts is sure to become and urban youth favorite.
First issue to hit the stands June, 5 in Providence, RI and Hartford CT. Will hit stores in Massachusettes July 5.
