New Delhi, August 7, 2010: India’s prime sports channel Ten Sports and the newly launched comprehensive cricket channel, Ten Cricket, will telecast the Tri Nation Cricket Series between India, Sri Lanka and New Zealand LIVE starting August 10 to August 28, 2010. India’s leading handset manufacturer, Micromax is the presenting sponsor for the series. The matches will be telecast LIVE from Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, Dambulla on Ten Sports and Ten Cricket.
Mr. Atul Pande, CEO-Sports Business, ZEEL said, “We are happy to be associated with Micromax, as the presenting sponsor for the Tri Series. This is going to be an exciting series involving the Indian national team. Cricket fans are looking forward for the Indian national team to return to their winning ways.”
The first match of this Triangular series will be played between India and New Zealand. From the Indian side, Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir and Harbhajan Singh have been rested for the Tri-Series while Yuvraj Singh makes a return to the 15-man squad after being dropped from the Asia Cup 2010 because of his fitness and form. New Zealand has appointed Ross Taylor as a captain of New Zealand team in the absence of Daniel Vettori. The selectors have appointed Kyle Mills as a Vice-Captain.
“The Tri-series is a step forward for Ten Sports and our recently launched cricket channel, Ten Cricket, in its commitment of bringing the best cricket action from across the globe for its revered viewers. All matches in the Tri–series will involve incisive and top bracket broadcast, featuring pre & post match analysis and highlights; involving some of the best cricketing brains in the business”; Mr. Pande added.
The same teams participated in tri-series in Sri Lanka in “Compaq Cup” and India won the cup in final match against Sri Lanka while New Zealand failed to make it to the finals. New Zealand has not won any major tournament since 2000, so the Kiwis will gun to win this title. This time, Indian team will have to give the fight without its top batsmen and key bowler, but MS Dhoni hopes that the team wins the Micromax Cup.
