Discussing Regular Inspection and Maintenance of Earth Station System

1. Antenna Inspection
Firstly check if the fasteners are loosen, then check the appearance and observe if the antenna surface paint fall off, if the PTEE membrane of feed horn burst and if the Az and El axis rust. When the fasteners are loosening, lock them in time; when the PTEE membrane of feed horn burst, change it in time; when the ante-sky antenna surface paint fall off, paint it in time; when the Az and El are rust, firstly spray relax agent, after removing the rust, and then oil the grease to prevent the rust.
2. Pointing Inspection
Before pointing inspection, firstly loose the locking device of Az/El and make power to Low Noise Amplifier, and then connect the spectrum analyzer under the Lowe Noise Amplifier and receive the Satellite beacon for pointing. For manual pointing, firstly the antenna azimuth, elevation and polarization should be preset to theoretical values and test it by compass, generally it can get the beacon signal, if you haven't seen the beacon, the user should check if the elevation is set correct by compass. After receiving the beacons, adjust the antenna azimuth and elevation to get the Maximum beacon signal level. Also you need to use the Satellite reversed polarization beacon to adjust Polarization, if Satellite has no reversed polarization, the user can send one single carrier to adjust it under the monitoring of the Satellite Company. After finishing the pointing, firstly lock the polarization device, and then lock the azimuth/elevation axis and locking nut of the manual antenna alternatively; meanwhile, during the above operational process you should observe the receiving beacon of the spectrum analyzer so as to avoid the deviation. Finally, lock azimuth/elevation device.
3. Equipment State Inspection
(1) Earth station not often used
Earth station not often used also need to be power-checked regularly, before power, the user should check the ground, power-supply and the connection cables between equipments. After check the equipment power voltage normal, grounding well, connection relations, cables connection correct, power on the equipments. After power on, firstly check if the cooling fan can work normally; after the equipment self-checking finish, observe if each indicator shows normal, if the fault light is illuminated, then check the station indication, operational parameters, fault storage of the HPA, LNA, upper/low converter and modem one by one. After everything is ok, adjust the system parameters and operational level.
(2) Earth station running
When the earth station is running, steps of power on can be moved, the user can check the equipment state and parameters directly.
