Pressbox (Press Release) - The Nexus One from Google new for 2010.

Google have announced their forthcoming Nexus One Phone featuring a 3.7 Inch AMOLED touch screen, 5 mega pixel camera with
flash and autofocus. Incorporation Google Voice, they are hoping that the Nexus One will become the leading Smartphone available.

Powered by the latest Android Mobile Technology platform, version 2.1, the phone has a 1 Ghz Snapdragon processor, 512 MB RAM and a 32 GB capable micro SD slot. More similar in looks to the iPhone than any other phone currently available the Google Nexus One is only 11.5 mm deep and weighs in at just 130 grams, smaller than the iPhone on both counts. In terms of operation the phone, the screen has four touch buttons (Home, Back, Menu and Search) and the phone also incorporates a trackball pointing device which changes colour according to the notification you are receiving. It will be the amazing 3.7 inch AMOLED screen where most of your interaction occurs, and at a resolution of 480 x 800 it is currently the best mobile phone display available.

The Google Nexus One, as you would expect, has some special software features that makes using the phone a pleasure. Google Voice allows you to make voice activated calls and texts. Most of the applications available on the phone feature a microphone button, which converts your voice to text with pretty accurate results. The Nexus One features a second microphone which is used for noise cancellation, resulting in less background noise and clearer conversations. The 5 mega pixel camera features an LED flash and allows the location of the photograph to be included via the phones built in AGPS (Assisted Global Positioning System) receiver. Videos can be captured at 20 frames per second or higher.

In terms of aesthetics, the live wallpaper gives the phone a real wow factor. These animated backgrounds interact to touch. Although they offer no technical benefits and are a drain on the battery phone a they do give the phone a great look i.e. blades of grass against the sky which changes to reflect the exact time of day. The body of the Nexus is made up of two different materials. A metallic frame surrounds the front and side of the phone. The battery cover and bottom of the phone are both coated with Teflon, giving the phone a solid and rubbery feel.

The Google Nexus One is a stylish looking Smartphone pitched to compete alongside the iPhone and Sony Satios of this world. The standout feature of the phone is undoubtedly the superb quality screen, whilst the overall user interface makes the phone both easy and fun to use.
