Liverpool-based author launches campaign for new novel

Added: (Thu Jan 10 2019)

Pressbox (Press Release) - The second book from Liverpool-based writer Jake Keane (author of Empiricism & Other Stories) has begun crowdfunding on IndieGoGo. Although the author has described it as less of a crowdfunding campaign and more “an innovative way to pre-order the book for as little as £1.”

Entitled AMERICAN ABSURDIST, the book is described as a “transgressive, existential, sci-fi/horror.”

It looks to deal with a variety of dark themes; such as isolation, freelancing, political-correctness, drug abuse, mental health, and more.

The synopsis on IndieGoGo reads:

“AMERICAN ABSURDIST is the strange story of a young writer named Merit South. He is haunted by an entity he calls the Memory Man; a suffocating presence in his life, an abnormal beast brought on by drug abuse and a severely fractured mind.”

The author is offering this new book and his previous collection of short stories - in paperback format - for only £15 through the campaign page.

The fairly modest goal for the campaign is £2,000. However, the author has stated on the page that no matter what amount of funding is reached, the book will be released - as the campaign has ‘flexible funding’ status.

As a way of garnering support for the campaign, the author has released several statements across his social media channels letting people know that he’ll send them “a free, digital copy” of his first book if they want to experience his writing before pre-ordering his latest work.

Estimated delivery date of the book is listed as June 2019. However, the author has indicated that it’s likely the book will be published earlier, as it is in the final stages of editing.

The campaign is set to end sometime in the next month and is open to all European and US-based readers (although the book will be available worldwide upon release).
