Edenbridge businesswoman and beekeeper, Thalia White, is offering London and the South East businesses a unique way to show their commitment to corporate responsibility, with branded bee hives that produce local honey.

Thalia, 41 has combined her experience in business publishing with her life-long passion for the British countryside, by setting up Bee Conservation.

The Hives - are situated in highly visible location, so business that sponsor them get valuable publicity with their company branding on permanent display.

Bees are intrinsically linked with benefitting nature so, unlike traditional advertising hoardings, a branded hives shows a company keen to play its part in sustaining the local environment.

At the end of each season, the company sponsors are guaranteed a personalised supply of honey.

There is no limit to the number of hives a company can sponsor.

“People love bees,” says Thalia. “They associate them with honey and with the summer. And we’re also becoming more aware of their importance to the countryside and to food supply, and the threat that they are under.”

Bee and pollinator populations around the world have declined.

In November 2017, Parliament gathered together the best contemporary research on bee populations for a debate at Westminster Hall.

They reported a long-term decline in UK pollinators, for which the more than 250 species of UK bees are used as an indicator. A National Pollinator Strategy sets out whet the Government intends to do, efforts it has pledged to maintain after Brexit.

The exact cause of this fall in bee numbers is not yet fully understood. Climate change probably plays a role; the decline in native wild flowers certainly does. Pesticides, disease, parasites, and invasive species could also be contributing.

It’s an important issue. The House of Commons Library’s research put the value of pollinators like bees to the UK economy at about £600 million a year.

But according to Thalia, it is relatively easy to make an impact on a personal and corporate level.

“This is an opportunity to make your own contribution. Individual bees from your hive will fly up to 3 miles each a day, pollinating as they forage for food. A hive can contain up to 50,000 bees, and they can pollinate billions of flowers and help produce thousands of tons of apples, and hundreds of tons of pears and cherries.

“Your company can really make a difference.”

Thalia – who became fascinated by bees after hearing the buzzing of a neighbour’s hives as a child – will manage hives wrapped with high-quality branding in a safe site, visiting around once a week during the summer. Bee Conservation is fully insured, and Thalia is happy to explain her work and the lives of the colonies to staff who want to know more.

Honey yields are guaranteed, branded with your logo and personalised labels, and make a wonderful promotional gift or staff reward.
