Bucks writer explored creative side aged 50

Pressbox (Press Release) - Buckinghamshire sales engineer Geoff Matthews is making up for lost time as a creative force.
On turning 50, the father-of-three embarked on a writing journey.
And over the past 11 years he has penned hundreds of songs, anthologies of poetry and countless short stories.
Geoff, who writes under the name GP Matthews, has now published the first of a planned fantasy adventure trilogy.
The 61-year-old said: “I took the wrong career path.
“When I hit 50 I decided to explore my creative side.
“Since then I have written hundreds of songs, poems, scripts, short stories and I am now working on my third novel.
“Artistically, I have written some great songs, and I am writing, with these three books, what I hope will be my biggest achievement to date.”
The Hutenghast is a frightening twist on Germanic folk tales with a group of schoolchildren being lured to their demise by an evil entity.
Geoff’s novel follows the fortunes of the 12-year-olds who believe they are attending a final school trip before leaving their junior school.
With seven of the party being pre-selected for sacrifice, only the intervention of a God-like being can prevent their souls being taken.
Packed with sinister themes, accomplished characterisation and unexpected twists The Hutenghast is a chilling, yet gripping, novel.
Geoff has already completed the first draft of the sequel to The Hutenghast, and he is building up the storylines for the third and final instalment.
Although he admits that finding time to write is still challenging, he is making the most of any situation to put pen to paper.
He explained: “I feel guilty during my spare time, if I am not spending it with my wife.
“I do okay though, I’m now on my third book in 10 months and that is from just writing for a few hours, two or three days a week.
“Once I get going, I write quickly.
“I wrote about 3000 words of my second book, whilst I was sat on a plane to Tenerife.
“The lady sat next to me was reading what I was writing, as I wrote it.”
