Californian nurse earns praise with poetry book

Five-star-rated Californian poet Karlina Dunston likes to be in the driving seat when it comes to finding inspiration.
The 40-year-old registered nurse has just published her debut anthology, Love From Two Worlds, to critical acclaim.
But she admits many of her deepest thoughts arrive while sitting in her car during evenings at the local park in Palmdale.
Karlina explained: “I actually find a lot of my ideas to come at night while in bed and while I am sitting in my car oddly enough.
“I find ideas come rushing while sitting at night in my car at a local park and listening to different instrumental music.
“The idea of Love From Two Worlds has been a long time coming.
“Some of the poems were written in my early 20s and then when I met my husband, and other people in my life.
“The poems all came from different stages of love in my life.”
Love From Two Worlds has attracted entirely five-star reviews since its recent publication, with critics describing Karlina’s collection as ‘inspirational’, ‘wonderful’ and ‘awesome’.
The anthology delves deep into how love influences most aspects of life.
Karlina’s original and creative stanzas come together to provide a stunning soliloquy, spoken for a lover from a different world.
Through observations, metaphors and similes Love From Two Worlds is a powerful and thought-provoking work.
Karlina added: “Love From Two Worlds is essentially about love and expressing the in-depth feelings, emotions, spiritual and mental state it creates.
“I believe that love is one of those feelings that can tap into every area and category of a person’s life.
“It will be seen and it will be shown.
“The message that I hope to convey from Love From Two Worlds is that in life we have relationships where you can love someone so much and they will never know it - no matter what you do.
“I also want people to understand that it is possible for two people to love each other equally with the same amount of passion, sensitivity, honesty, and courage.”
Away from writing and nursing Karlina studies Latin and Hebrew, as well as symbology.
She is also an accomplished soap maker.
Karlina is currently considering a sequel anthology to look at how love matures.
