Pressbox (Press Release) - Psychologist Annie Cook admits decades of listening to her patients has provided the inspiration for her debut novel, No Small Change.
And the 63-year-old has so many ideas and storylines built up, that she already has a further six books in the planned series.
No Small Change has already racked up a lengthy string of five-star reviews since its recent release.
The life-affirming romance has been described as ‘a treat’, ‘hard to put down’ and ‘wonderful’ by captivated critics.
Reviewer Stewart Rayner stated: “I was pleasantly surprised and genuinely charmed by the story line, the characters and of the course the location which is a lovely village setting in the Lake District.”
No Small Change is a gripping story of hope, healing and nature’s powers set within the windswept fells of Cumbria.
Following the fortunes of menopausal Adie and widowed farmer Mark, who are both searching for new meaning in shattered lives, Annie’s novel is authentic in its treatment of loss and despair.
She revealed that her realistic characterisation is down to her patients as well as her own experiences.
Annie explained: “The idea for No Small Change came from a combination of my own and other people’s circumstances, such as menopause, damaging family secrets, betrayal, and grief.
“The characters are complex combinations of a lot of people I know, and their circumstances are influenced by those of people I have worked with, over the years.”
As well as a highly regarded psychologist, specialising in helping people with long-term insomnia, Annie is also a qualified vibrational healer.
And she has adapted the meditational practice to have a central role in both No Small Change and the forthcoming sequels.
Annie, who splits her time between her homes in the UK and Italy, added: “As a vibrational healer I work with people to realign their frequencies to promote healing on different levels.
“The incredible healing power of vibration is something that I have seen and felt for myself and witnessed in other people countless times.
“I have felt compelled for a long time now to put these stories into the world where they can perhaps inspire other people.
“The first book in my series is about the power of vibrational energy within the walls of a very special little house that people find themselves being drawn to, in an emotionally struggling or wounded state, or faced with overcoming trauma.
“The energy within house subtly helps them heal.”
