Rhino Play Create New Play Park For Dartmouth Naval College

Added: (Thu May 19 2022)

Pressbox (Press Release) - Rhino Play has successfully designed and installed a brand new play area on the grounds of the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth, South Devon.

Rhino Play has recently spent time working with the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth to create an entertaining and safe playground for the children of officers, cadets and honoured guests visiting the college. The playground, located at the top of the playing field on the BRNC grounds, was set aside for children to enjoy during family events, parades or other visits.

The previous play area at the college was installed over 15 years ago and was starting to appear worn, dated and some parts of it were breaking down, beyond economical repair. Family time is incredibly important to those at the Royal Naval College so it was imperative that the new, fully functional playground was up and running as soon as possible.

Reggie Slaughter, Base Warrant Officer for BRNC, was there to oversee the whole project, after applying for a Navy, Army and Air Force Institutes Grant Fund, Reggie began liaising with local playground specialists, Rhino Play, to design and install a bespoke themed play area for the college.

“The installation of this facility will enhance the lived experience for the families of our staff and officer cadets. We are committed to including the wider service family in our day-to-day business and this project is a big step in our ability to achieve this. The comments of excitement from our families are a clear indicator of how popular this project has been.” Warrant Officer Reggie Slaughter

As the children of the college may vary in age and abilities, Rhino Play worked hard to ensure that aspects of the new play park would appeal to children of most ages and abilities. Rhino Play installed bespoke climbing frames, towers and slides, giving the children opportunities to run, climb and explore along with a set of flat seat swings, and climbing nets for the families of the naval college to enjoy. All of the equipment was installed on safety surfacing or wood chips for increased safety, so parents can feel safe in the knowledge that their children are happy and safe playing on the new playground equipment.

Chris, Managing Director at Rhino Play had this to say about the project: “It was a great honour to work with Reggie and the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth. We pride ourselves on designing and installing high-quality fun and unique commercial playground equipment for children of all ages to enjoy. Working with Reggie and the Naval College, we were able to produce a play area which would serve the college and community for many years to come.”
