In addition to marking the arrival of spring, the Spring Festival of Colours celebration meant for fertility, colour, love, and the triumph of good over evil. Aylesbury becoming a fast growing multicultural town so it will be best time that we endeavour to celebrate such events which brings togetherness within the community. It is also called as the “festival of love” as on this day people, regardless of age, religion, race or social status, join in the celebrations and unite together forgetting all resentments and any ill feeling towards each other. It's said that lovers having this tradition, painting their faces the same colour in celebration of festival of love.

On this day who are taking part in the festivities cover each other in gulal, a fine powder that comes in many different colours. The colours of the rainbow are all symbolic.
