Retired Wrestling Legends team with Aussie actor Derek Siow for British Film “Fight Honour Fight”

Added: (Fri Aug 25 2023)

Pressbox (Press Release) - From films such as Angel Has Fallen, All The Old Knives and Red White & Royal Blue and with a further two movies and a TV series on the way, Aussie actor Derek Siow is now teaming up with the who’s-who of British wrestling in the comedy film Fight Honour Fight.

The trailer for the film comes out following the record-breaking AEW crowd at Wembley Stadium this summer which headlined some of the best British wrestlers in the world, including Saraya who’s life was the basis for the 2019 biopic film Fighting With My Family.

Rishi Ghosh, who stars in Fight Honour Fight and also appeared in the 2019 film Fighting With My Family, is a British wrestler and actor who has shared the ring with WWE and AEW wrestlers such as Kenny Omega, Zack Sabre Jr, Will Ospreay, Davey Boy Smith Jnr and “The Big Guy” Ryback. He’s the owner of the Quality Wrestling Academy, one of the busiest Wrestling academies in the UK and worldwide and is currently performing on the British wrestling circuit for his 2023 retirement tour.

Currently based in London, Derek has written and is producing the British film Fight Honour Fight, a heartfelt comedy about a Japanese wrestler who goes to the UK and is taken in by a British-Indian wrestler (played by Rishi Ghosh) however the Japanese wrestler is actually an Australian conman who has never wrestled a day in his life. The only fight training he’s had has been school yard and Aussie pub fights and now he’s taking over the Brit’s house, job and girlfriend. Full of twists and turns, audiences are taken on an emotional ride to see who will survive in the end, the Aussie or the Brit.

“I’ve been a wrestling fan since my youth from the 80’s golden era of Hulkamania to the Monday Night Wars of the 1990s. Recently, British and Australian wrestlers have been making a name for themselves in the American wrestling promotions like WWE and AEW and we felt now was a good time to bring our Harold and Kumar-esque wrestling movie to life,” says Derek.

Also starring in the film is British actress and stunt performer Laura Lake (House of Dragon, Pennyworth, Call The Midwife) who previously performed motion capture for the WWE 2K video game as women wrestlers in the game and also motion capture for the recent Barbie movie.

British wrestling legends Doug Williams and Steve Grey will be appearing and Williams recently retired from his 30 year wrestling career in July 2023. He is best known for winning numerous championships in TNA Impact Wrestling including the TNA Television Championship, X-Division Championship and the TNA World Tag Team Championship. Grey had his television debut in 1971 and was often regarded as one of the best workers on ITV’s World of Sport on UK television and was arguably the most respected British Light Heavyweight Champions throughout the 1970-1980s.

An Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign is being launched for Fight Honour Fight on 1 October 2023 and the trailer drops on 28 August 2023 on www.gorillapressproductions.com
