ANATUNE MARKS 25 YEARS OF PROGRESS
ANATUNE IS 25 TODAY!!

21st of June sees Anatune (Anatune Ltd) celebrate 25 years in business. For more than a quarter of a century, Anatune has supplied UK & Ireland analytical chemistry laboratories with industry-leading solutions for Automated Analytical Instrumentation, Applications Development & Customer Support in the fields of Gas Chromatography - GC, Liquid Chromatography – LC, & Mass Spectrometry – MS.
Anatune was born in 1995 when he Dutch Instrumentation company ATAS acquired the distribution rights to the OPTIC 2 Programable Injector, from AI Cambridge. ATAS then set-up a company to sell and support the OPTIC 2 and other gas chromatography products in the UK and Ireland. And so began the life of what would become Anatune.
Initially, the business thrived by selling and supporting novel GC injector and automation technology, and the OPTIC 2 quickly gained the reputation of the best large-volume GC injector available. Then, in 1998, ATAS became a value-added reseller for Agilent Technologies and Anatune was able to offer complete GC/LC/MS analytical solutions.
In 2001, due to the acquisition of the wider ATAS Group, the opportunity to acquire the Cambridge arm of the business arose. When it did, Anatune’s Managing Director at the time, Ray Perkins, jumped at it. Anatune had experience of successfully introducing new technologies into the GC marketplace, in 2002, Anatune went on to establish the LECO GC product line in the UK and became one of Europe’s largest distributors of GERSTEL GmbH’s sample preparation technologies.
With huge success in solving a wide-range of complex analytical challenges, in 2010, Anatune began distributing Syft Technologies SIFT-MS equipment. Ever since, Anatune has been one of the leading specialists in this ground-breaking technology, believing it will revolutionise many areas of analysis.
In any business sector, there are a small percentage of customers who are both inventive and far-sighted. Anatune has always placed a priority of seeking these people out and helping to solve their challenges. This policy has paid dividends, leading to countless innovations and analytical breakthroughs. Here are just a few notable examples:
• The Anatune VOC analyser proved to be the fastest and highest capacity instrument for measuring VOCs in water and soil samples at the lowest cost per sample.
• Anatunne’s Vitamin D Analyser is an LC-QQQ solution for the automated, high throughput analysis of Vitamin D in blood serum.
• Anatune and the University of Manchester showed how GC-TOF MS can be used to identify biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease in a highly publicised piece of work.
In 2018, Arch Scientific Group made an offer to acquire Anatune. As a result of Arch Scientific Group’s vision for Anatune’s future, and determination to preserve the company’s unique qualities, CEO Ray Perkins accepted the offer and Anatune became part of the group in November 2018.
With Anatune’s success rooted in the fantastic work conducted by its customers, everyone at the company is very excited about the additional capabilities being part of Arch Scientific Group offers. Speaking about Anatune’s 25 Years of Progress, Managing Director, Alan Lockley, said:
“We’re delighted to be able to reach this fantastic milestone. It’s been a privilege to have served the scientific community for this length of time.
Thank You to everyone who has chosen to work with us over the last 25 years. You are the key to our success and a continued source of inspiration. Put simply, Anatune’s success is down to putting the customer at the heart of everything we do. We’re very proud to say that many names from our first order book are still friends of the company to this day. And with a growing team of experts who share this passion for service and support, we’re extremely excited about continuing to solve our customers’ challenges for the next 25 years.
Anatune’s 25 anniversary is an important milestone. But that’s all it is. Every member of the team is committed to getting better every single day. We will bring a host of new innovations to market and will strive to improve how we service our customers. But our values won’t change. We’re always just the other end of a phone to do all we can to help those who need it.
Here’s to the next quarter century.”
