UK Student Visa Requirements for Bangladeshi Students
[Dhaka, Bangladesh - February 28, 2023] - The United Kingdom has recently announced changes to its student visa requirements, which will impact Bangladeshi students who wish to study in the UK.
Starting from 1 January 2024, all Bangladeshi students applying for a student visa to the UK will need to meet the following requirements:
Proof of English language proficiency: All Bangladeshi students will be required to provide evidence of their English language proficiency by achieving a minimum score of CEFR B1 or equivalent on a UKVI approved English language test.
Financial Requirements: Bangladeshi students will need to show that they have sufficient funds to cover their tuition fees and living expenses in the UK for the duration of their course. The minimum financial requirement for a student visa will be set at £12,006 per year for courses lasting nine months or more.
Academic Qualifications: Bangladeshi students must provide evidence that they have been accepted onto a course of study at a recognised UK educational institution, and that they meet the academic requirements for that course.
Health and Character Requirements: All Bangladeshi students must undergo a health check and provide a certificate confirming they do not have any serious health conditions. They must also provide a police clearance certificate to demonstrate they have no previous criminal convictions.
The UK government has stated that these changes to the student visa requirements are aimed at ensuring that the UK remains a top destination for international students, while also maintaining high standards of education and reducing the risk of fraud and abuse of the student visa system.
Bangladeshi students who are considering studying in the UK are encouraged to consult with their chosen educational institution and an immigration lawyer to ensure they understand the new requirements and are able to provide the necessary documentation to support their student visa application.
